About

Wisconsin state law requires counties to be at the front lines of delivery for mental health services.

Over recent years, there have been efforts to raise public awareness around mental health, with the goal of reducing or preventing mental illness. These efforts resulted in a more accurate reporting of what had been previously under-recognized symptoms.

Due to reduced stigma and better mental health literacy, people are now acknowledging and seeking help for mental health issues that were present in past generations but went unrecognized and undiscussed. As a result, this strain on Wisconsin’s public mental health system has created an urgent need for additional resources to support people with mental illness.

It is our goal to ensure that those in need are able to secure mental health services, regardless of where they live, while receiving funding from the state to deliver such services.
