On March 13, 2023, the Wisconsin Counties Association launched a statewide public service announcement that highlights the mental health crisis our state is facing.
The video states that nearly 22 percent of Wisconsin adults have reported having a mental illness. Coupled with a shortage of therapists, long wait times and limited resources at the county level, there are challenges ahead with many left behind.
“It is the goal of this public service announcement to elevate the issue of mental health,” said WCA President & CEO Mark D. O’Connell. “Mental health is an issue that touches all our lives and counties are on the frontlines of this vitally important service delivery. It is our goal to let people know they are not alone and there are resources available to them.”
